Boston Promenade In English
Boston Promenade is a big band founded n 1964. It consists of 26 eager musicians between 25 and 35 years old. The band has evolved into a popular party band at larger company functions in Finland. In addition to local companies, Boston Promenade has played for globally known companies including Nokia, Canon, IBM, Pfizer, Accenture, Citibank and BAT. They perform regularly on Finnish national television.
One of the advantages of Boston Promenade is that the repertoire is very broad and flexible. They mostly start off with entertaining jazz (e.g. Frank Sinatra) and as the evening develops, so does the music. The people in the audience turn from being listening observers into dancing party-animals, while the band plays hits from the 70s (e.g. Tom Jones, Stevie Wonder) to the pop and rock music of today (e.g. Robbie Williams, Pharrell Williams, Bruno Mars). With 13 horns, 5 vocalists and a rhythm section on stage, the audience must be made of ice for it not to enjoy the band and start dancing. The band fits medium sized cocktail-parties as well as parties that fill a stadium.
Boston Promenade has travelled a lot and has played from New York to Moscow, from Austria to South Africa, not to forget China, Namibia, Peru, Kyrgiztan and others. For example, in 2005 in Peru the band played public and private concerts in Lima, Cusco and Iquitos. In the summer of 2006, they opened the Finnish EU presidency in Warsaw and Bratislava. In 2007 Boston Promenade toured Japan and 2012-2013 Thailand in two occasions.
